Virender Sehwag Reflects on the ‘Rise and Fall’ Moments of His Cricket Career

Sehwag, who has taken over as the host of the second season of *Rise & Fall*, spoke during the show's promotions and reflected on how his career was marked by repeated moments of success and adversity.

“In my life, rise and fall has happened a lot. I played my first match in 1999; the match was drawn, so I experienced the fall. Then I made a comeback and scored the fastest 100; that was the rise for me. In 2007, I was dropped from the team; that was the fall. In 2008, I made a second triple century, then I rose again. Life is all about ups and downs. It happens in life; if you keep playing,” Sehwag.

The former opener said setbacks can also provide an opportunity to build a stronger foundation, adding that no career remains completely smooth.

“You are not Sachin Tendulkar, that you play for 20 years and has a smooth sail. In everyone's life, rise and fall happen. But when you fall, you get a chance to make a solid foundation. When you rise, you become better,” he said.

Sehwag has now stepped into the hosting role for the second season of *Rise & Fall*, taking over from Ashneer Grover. The reality series brings together 15 contestants for a 42-day competition centred around power, strategy, alliances and constantly changing fortunes.

The contestants are divided into two groups. The Rulers occupy the Tower and hold control within the game, while the Workers live in the Basement and compete for opportunities to climb the hierarchy.

Season 2 also expands the role of viewers, allowing the audience to influence which contestants become Rulers or Workers.

The current season features Swara Bhasker, Karan Patel, Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, Shehzad Poonawalla, Gautam Gulati, Tej Pratap Yadav, Sara Gurpal and Kajal Raghwani among the contestants.
