Jessica Chastain has marked 15 years of *Take Shelter* by revisiting Michael Shannon's powerful performance in the acclaimed psychological thriller, describing it as one of her favourite performances of all time.

The actress took to Instagram to commemorate the anniversary, sharing a memorable scene from the 2011 film. The clip features Shannon's character standing in front of a visibly stunned crowd as he delivers an intense warning about a devastating storm that he believes is approaching.

Alongside the video, Chastain praised her former co-star's work in the film, calling his performance one of her favourites and adding a playful "GOAT" reference.

Written and directed by Jeff Nichols, *Take Shelter* centres on Curtis LaForche, a husband and father whose increasingly disturbing visions convince him that a catastrophic storm is coming. As his fears intensify, Curtis begins preparing for the possibility of disaster while also questioning whether the real threat may be coming from his own mind.

The film explores themes of family, masculinity, mental illness, fear and the lengths people can go to protect those closest to them.

Shannon's performance as Curtis became one of the most acclaimed aspects of the film. Over the course of his career, the actor has received two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor, for *Revolutionary Road* and *Nocturnal Animals*. He also earned Actor Award and Golden Globe nominations for his role in *99 Homes*.

Shannon made his film debut in *Groundhog Day* in 1993 and went on to appear in a wide range of films, including *Jesus' Son*, *Pearl Harbor*, *Before the Devil Knows You're Dead*, *The Iceman*, *The Shape of Water*, *Knives Out* and *Bullet Train*.

His professional relationship with Nichols has also become a notable part of his career. Shannon has appeared in all of Nichols' films to date, including *Shotgun Stories*, *Take Shelter*, *Mud*, *Midnight Special*, *Loving* and *The Bikeriders*.

Chastain has meanwhile established herself as one of Hollywood's prominent actors, taking on roles across a range of genres and frequently appearing in projects that explore women's experiences and feminist themes. Her accolades include an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award, alongside nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards, Tony Awards and British Academy Film Awards.

In 2012, *Time* magazine named Chastain among its 100 most influential people in the world.
