Jackie Shroff recalls father’s prediction that he would become an actor

Jackie Shroff has opened up about a remarkable prediction made by his father years before he entered the film industry, revealing that his father had told him he would become an actor when acting was not even part of his plans.

The conversation came up during an episode of the show when host Haarsh Limbachiyaa discussed contestant Ritesh’s predictions and asked Jackie about his father, who worked as an astrologer.

Reflecting on his childhood, Jackie remembered his father as a quiet and hardworking man who largely kept to himself and remained focused on his work and clients.

Jackie recalled that after completing Class 11, he began thinking about leaving formal education because he did not want to put further financial pressure on his family. He told his father that instead of continuing with college, he would look for work.

That was when his father made a prediction that Jackie would eventually become an actor.

According to Jackie, his father simply told him, “Beta, tu actor banega” (Son, you will become an actor). At the time, Jackie had not seriously considered a career in films, making the prediction all the more memorable in hindsight.

Looking back, the actor said that his father’s astrological prediction ultimately proved remarkably accurate in his case.

Jackie has spoken on several occasions about the difficult circumstances of his early life and the modest home he shared with his parents and brother. Despite having very little financially, he has often remembered those years with affection, particularly the sense of closeness and togetherness within his family.

The actor has also reflected on how his life changed after achieving success. While he now lives in a much larger home and enjoys the comforts that came with his career, Jackie has spoken about how material prosperity does not necessarily bring the same sense of family closeness he experienced while growing up.

His latest recollection offers another glimpse into the life Jackie led before Bollywood success, when his future was still uncertain, and his father was one of the few people who appeared to have already seen where his life might be headed.
