Anushman Jha: I make movies to connect, my attempt has never been transactional

Soni Razdan and Raghubir Yadav-starrer *Om Ka Hari* is set to reach audiences across the country through special screenings at more than 50 Army centres in India.

Producer and actor Anshuman Jha will also travel across 15 cities to personally host screenings of the film, beginning Monday. His itinerary includes Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Agra, Jaipur, Bengaluru and Patna, among other cities.

Speaking about the initiative, Anshuman described it as a more personal and traditional way of taking a film to its audience rather than simply promoting it.

“This is the old-school way of connecting with audiences, not just selling a film to them. I make movies to connect, and my attempt has never been transactional; it has always been emotional,” Anshuman said.

He added that he plans to continue travelling and interacting directly with viewers, drawing inspiration from legendary filmmaker and actor Charlie Chaplin, who would reportedly take his films from one city to another.

“Charlie Chaplin used to take his films from city to city. I want to do that with *Om Ka Hari*. I want to sit with audiences, watch the film with them, hear what they feel, and have conversations with them,” he said.

According to Anshuman, the response to *Om Ka Hari* has been genuine, encouraging him to continue taking the film to audiences in different parts of the country. He said the central message he hopes viewers carry with them is the importance of expressing love towards their parents while they still have the opportunity.

The film has also retained a presence in 25 cinemas for its second week, while the upcoming Army centre screenings are expected to take the movie to thousands of additional viewers across India.

Directed by Harish Vyas, *Om Ka Hari* explores the complicated relationship between a father and his son, blending comedy and drama with themes of family, generational differences and emotions that often remain unspoken.

Anshuman Jha and Raghubir Yadav play the central characters, Om and Hari. The story follows a strong-willed father and his independent son, whose relationship has been shaped by years of disagreements, conflicting expectations and unresolved emotions.

When Hari learns that he may have only a short time left, he decides to travel to Varanasi, with Om accompanying him on the journey.

What begins as a trip filled with tension gradually becomes an opportunity for father and son to confront their shared history and acknowledge the love, pain and words they have struggled to express to each other.
