The makers of actor-filmmaker Vishwak Sen’s upcoming film *Cult* have released the trailer, offering a glimpse into a violent, suspense-filled world where survival depends on navigating a series of deadly games.
Produced by Sandeep Kakarala under the banner of Tarak Cinemas, the film is being promoted as India’s first authentic slasher thriller inspired by disturbing real-life incidents.
Vishwak Sen plays the lead role and has also taken charge of the story, screenplay and direction.
The trailer establishes a chilling premise in which more than 300 people find themselves trapped inside an isolated estate on an island in Goa. The property is surrounded by electric fencing, while the main entrance is rigged with RDX explosives, making escape appear almost impossible.
With their lives hanging in the balance, those trapped inside must participate in a series of deadly games, where every decision could have fatal consequences.
Among them is DSP Sankalp Nayak, a tough police officer who must navigate the increasingly dangerous circumstances as the struggle for survival intensifies.
While the film’s teaser had hinted at Vishwak Sen portraying a character with negative shades, the trailer reveals a different side to his role. He appears as an aggressive, unconventional police officer who has little tolerance for drugs and follows his own uncompromising approach to dealing with criminals.
The character’s mix of aggression, attitude and humour adds another dimension to the film’s otherwise dark and violent setting.
The trailer also introduces other key characters played by Gayatri Bharadwaj, Tarak Ponnapa, Murali Sharma, Srikanth Iyengar and others, suggesting an ensemble cast at the centre of the high-stakes narrative.
Tharun Bhascker has written the dialogues, while Arvind Mule has handled production design. Aravind Viswanathan is the cinematographer, Ravi Basrur has composed the background score, and Ravi Teja Girijala is responsible for editing.
*Cult* is scheduled for a simultaneous theatrical release on October 30 in Telugu, Hindi, English, Japanese and Spanish.
