Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unharmed after three motorcycle-borne men allegedly opened fire at his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday, while his driver sustained injuries, police said.

Police had not disclosed the severity of the driver’s injuries at the time of reporting.

Within hours of the incident, a group claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang posted a message on social media taking responsibility for the attack. The claim has yet to be independently established.

Mumbai Police have formed 15 special teams to investigate the shooting and identify those responsible.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also contacted the Mumbai Police Commissioner to enquire about the incident and directed the police chief to ensure an immediate investigation and strict action against the perpetrators.

The shooting drew sharp reactions from Congress leaders, who raised concerns over the city’s law and order situation.

Sachin M. Sawant, National Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, described the incident as shocking and questioned the state of security in Mumbai. Referring to the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s residence and threats against actors and film producers, he alleged that law and order in the city had deteriorated.

Prof. Varsha Eknath Gaikwad, Member of Parliament and president of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee, also criticised the security situation and called on the authorities to take necessary measures to protect residents.

In her remarks, Gaikwad referred to the earlier shooting outside Salman Khan’s home and Siddique’s murder, questioning the repeated incidents of violence in Mumbai, the country’s financial capital.

She also pointed out that the motive behind the latest shooting remained unclear and asked whether criminals continued to fear the law.

Police are continuing their investigation into the attack, including efforts to establish the identity of the shooters and determine the motive behind the incident.
