Taylor Swift calls working with Dakota Johnson on ‘Patient Zero’ a ‘dream sequence’

Swift premiered the music video during the 2026 VMAs, with Johnson and Colin Farrell starring alongside her. The video also features a cameo from model and actress Cara Delevingne.

Following the release, Swift took to Instagram to share her excitement about the project and praise the people involved in bringing her vision to the screen.

She particularly highlighted her experience working with director Chivexp, saying that collaborating with him felt like being part of a dream and that she learned a great deal by watching him work.

Swift also thanked Johnson and Farrell for trusting her with the project, praising both actors for bringing their talent and personalities to the shoot. She jokingly recalled spending an entire day laughing with Johnson after discovering that the two were dressed alike for the shoot.

The singer had equally warm words for Farrell, who plays the central male character in the video. Swift praised his portrayal of the villain and described him as a kind and positive presence on set.

Swift also gave a shout-out to Delevingne for taking on the role of the “other woman”, jokingly referring to the character's romantic involvement in the story.

The Patient Zero video follows two women connected by the same romantic relationship. Swift and Johnson portray two lovers of Farrell’s character, with the story ultimately focusing on one woman reflecting on the relationship and passing on what she has learned from the experience.

The project adds another visual chapter to Swift’s growing body of music videos, where narrative storytelling and cinematic elements have become a major part of her artistic output.

Swift remains one of the biggest names in contemporary music, with a career that has successfully crossed country and pop. Early hits including Teardrops on My Guitar, Love Story, and You Belong with Me helped establish her as a crossover star.
