Ramesh Bishnoi, cousin of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has called on Bollywood actor Salman Khan to apologise to the Bishnoi community, warning of serious consequences if he refuses.
Speaking in the aftermath of the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, Ramesh said the gang’s alleged warning extended to people working with Salman Khan. He claimed he was conveying the gang’s sentiments rather than expressing a threat of his own.
“As you heard in the audio, I heard the same thing: that we have stopped him and want to warn him again that anyone who works with Salman Khan could face consequences,” he said.
“These are not my words. I’m just citing their emotions on the matter,” he added.
Ramesh also appealed to Salman Khan’s family to reconsider their position, claiming that the issue had triggered widespread anger within the Bishnoi community.
“I want to tell Salman Khan’s family to give up their stubbornness. This is an issue affecting the entire community, and there is widespread anger within it,” he said.
He maintained that the dispute was not personal but stemmed from alleged hurt to the community’s religious sentiments. He claimed Lawrence Bishnoi was expressing that anger and said an apology from the actor would resolve the matter.
The gang’s hostility towards Salman Khan has been linked to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case in Rajasthan, which arose during the filming of *Hum Saath Saath Hain*. Salman was convicted by a trial court in 2018 and has challenged the verdict in higher courts while maintaining his innocence.
The remarks come after a firing incident outside a football club near Pushpa Narsee Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area on October 18, when three motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly opened fire at Tiger Shroff’s car as he was leaving football practice.
According to police, three rounds were fired at the 36-year-old actor’s vehicle. Tiger escaped without gunshot injuries, but his driver was injured and taken to Nanavati Hospital for treatment. An autorickshaw driver and others in the vicinity were also reportedly hurt.
The gunshots triggered panic in the area, prompting people to seek shelter. Police cordoned off the scene, while forensic teams collected evidence as part of the investigation.
Three suspects, including a minor, were subsequently arrested at Kota railway station in Rajasthan on Monday. Police reportedly acted on intelligence that the suspects were travelling aboard the Pune-Jaipur Express. The operation concluded within approximately 15 minutes, after which the three were taken into custody.
Police identified the arrested suspects as Rehan alias Sukka, from Sonipat in Haryana; Hrithik Kurmi alias Roshan, from Begusarai in Bihar; and a minor.
Hours after the shooting, a video circulated on social media in which a man identifying himself as Anil Pandit and claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the firing. The video alleged that the incident was intended as a warning to Tiger Shroff to stop working with Salman Khan. The claim remains subject to police investigation.
