Veteran singer and actress Ila Arun shared an emotional tribute to her brother, celebrated advertising professional Piyush Pandey, ahead of the first anniversary of his death, saying that the days have gotten heavier.
Taking to Instagram, Ila reflected on the difficult time her family has been experiencing as they prepare to mark a year since his passing. Alongside a photograph, she expressed her longing for her brother and the enduring place he holds in her heart.
“Dearest Brother Piyush, This week has been the most difficult week for all of us. It has been almost a year since you quietly went to sleep. God’s precious gift to us from our parents. The days are getting heavier as the 25th comes closer. You are in my heart every minute your sister Ila Arun,” she wrote.
Her message offered a glimpse into the grief of approaching the first anniversary of a loved one’s death, while reflecting the close bond she shared with her brother.
Piyush Pandey, one of India’s most influential figures in advertising, died on October 24, 2025, at the age of 70. A Padma Shri awardee, he was widely recognised for his contribution to Indian advertising and served as Ogilvy’s Worldwide Chief Creative Officer.
He died following pneumonia and related medical complications after battling an infection. He was also the brother of advertising filmmaker Prasoon Pandey.
Following his death last year, Ila had expressed her profound grief in another social media post, describing herself as devastated by the loss of her brother. She had also shared a throwback photograph of herself applying a tilak to his forehead.
“Dear loved ones, with a devastated, heartbroken, and lifeless spirit, I am writing to inform you that we have lost our dearest and greatest brother, Piyush Pandey, this morning. Further details will be shared by my brother Prasoon Pandey. Rest in peace, dear brother,” she had written.
As the first anniversary approaches, Ila’s latest message reflects the continuing pain of losing a family member whose presence remains deeply cherished. Her tribute also recalls the legacy of Piyush Pandey, whose work helped shape Indian advertising over several decades.
