Ayushmann Khurrana Praises Sooraj Barjatya’s Legacy: ‘He Has the Ability to Connect Families’

AyuKhurrana was speaking at the FICCI Frames event in Mumbai on Tuesday, where he discussed his upcoming film *Yeh Prem Mol Liya*, directed by Sooraj Barjatya.

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on November 27, 2026, with its trailer set to be unveiled on Diwali alongside *Ramayan*. Khurrana said he was particularly excited to collaborate with Barjatya because of the filmmaker's longstanding legacy in Hindi cinema.

“Yes, Sooraj Barjatya’s film ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’ will release on November 27. Our trailer will be unveiled on Diwali with ‘Ramayan’. I am very excited to work with him because he is a very legendary director. He has a very big legacy. And he has the ability to connect families. So you will see that through the film,” Khurrana said.

Barjatya has built his reputation around family-focused films and has directed several commercially successful Hindi movies, including *Maine Pyar Kiya*, *Hum Aapke Hain Koun* and *Vivah*.

*Yeh Prem Mol Liya* also marks the reunion of composer Himesh Reshammiya and Barjatya, a decade after their collaboration on *Prem Ratan Dhan Payo*. Reshammiya is reportedly composing seven songs for the upcoming film.

The movie will also feature Sharvari, marking her first on-screen pairing with Khurrana. The film is directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya and produced by Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films.

Khurrana also spoke about another upcoming project, *Udta Teer*, which is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 9.

Describing the film as a departure from his previous work, the actor said it combines patriotism with comedy and revolves around an unusual premise.

“My film ‘Udta Teer’ is releasing on October 9. It is a very different story. I want to say that it is India's first patriotic comedy where I become a Pakistani spy and lose my memory in India,” Khurrana said.

He explained that his character eventually begins fighting for India despite having forgotten which country he originally belonged to.

“My character in the film starts fighting for India. So in a way, he remembers patriotism, but he forgets which country it is. So it's a very beautiful story,” he added.

With both *Yeh Prem Mol Liya* and *Udta Teer* lined up for release, Khurrana is set to explore two contrasting genres, while his collaboration with Barjatya brings him into the filmmaker's distinctive family-oriented cinematic world.
