Anupam Kher Reveals How Anu Malik Helped Fulfil His Dream of Singing in a Musical

Anupam Kher shared a video from the production's Detroit show on social media, where he can be seen singing on stage before receiving a standing ovation from the audience.

The actor credited composer Anu Malik with helping make the experience possible and described performing the musical as a memorable moment in his career.

“Singing on the stage!!! I always wanted to sing in a musical. Thank you, #AnuMalik, for making that dream come true!” Kher wrote while sharing the video.

Calling the experience a “phenomenal feeling”, the actor also expressed gratitude to the Detroit audience for the warmth and appreciation shown to the cast and team.

“Here’s a little glimpse of my singing, followed by the standing ovation at our Detroit show. Detroit, thank you for your love, warmth, and appreciation. We will carry it with us,” he wrote.

Kher also revealed that the production's next stop is Raleigh, North Carolina, as the team continues its tour across North America.

The 71-year-old actor is currently presenting *Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane* to audiences in the US and Canada. Ahead of the production's US premiere, Kher had announced plans for the play to travel across both countries.

Written and directed by Gajendra Ahire, *Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane* explores themes of loneliness, companionship and the emotional distance that can emerge within modern relationships.

For Kher, the musical has also offered an opportunity to explore a side of performance he had long wanted to experience, with his singing segment now becoming one of the highlights of the ongoing stage tour.
