Amitabh Bachchan Recalls Mother Teji Bachchan’s Discipline and Parents’ Inter-Caste Marriage on ‘KBC’

Actress Madhuri Dixit, who appeared as a guest on the show, asked Bachchan about his mother’s personality and whether she was strict or particularly disciplined while raising her children.

Responding to her question, the megastar said his mother, like many others, remained attentive to her children and ensured that they followed basic rules and maintained discipline at home.

Bachchan recalled how Teji Bachchan disliked untidiness and expected her children to keep their surroundings clean. He shared memories of her questioning them when they left clothes lying around or entered the house after playing in the dirt without cleaning up.

He explained that she would insist they put things in order and clean up any mess, reflecting her emphasis on cleanliness and discipline during their upbringing.

The actor also spoke about his mother’s Sikh family background and her decision to marry his father, renowned Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, who was from Allahabad.

Describing their inter-caste marriage as an interesting story, Bachchan encouraged viewers to read his father’s autobiography to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the union.

He recalled that his mother had left behind her existing life and made the decision to marry his father within a single day, describing it as a significant moment in their family’s history.
