Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met actor Tiger Shroff following the firing incident outside the actor's car in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday evening. Visuals from the meeting showed Shroff seated.
The actor has been reported safe following the incident, while his driver sustained injuries in the firing.
Strongly condemning the attack, Shinde described the incident as a serious concern and assured that those responsible would face strict action. He said he had spoken with the Mumbai Police Commissioner, who had formed multiple teams to identify and apprehend the accused.
Speaking to the media, Shinde stressed that ensuring the safety of Mumbai's residents remained a priority for the government and police, regardless of whether the person affected was a public figure or an ordinary citizen.
He said the authorities would not tolerate attempts by criminal gangs to disrupt law and order and reiterated that those involved would not be spared.
The Deputy Chief Minister also referred to the Mumbai Police's crackdown on organised crime during the 1990s, asserting that the government remained committed to taking firm action against criminal elements.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when three motorcycle-borne men allegedly opened fire at Shroff's car in Juhu. The circumstances surrounding the attack and the identities of those involved remain under investigation.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also directed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to investigate the incident promptly and take strict action against those found responsible.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) expressed concern over the shooting, arguing that the incident raised broader questions about public safety in Mumbai.
In a statement shared on social media, the association questioned how ordinary citizens could feel secure if a prominent actor could be targeted in the heart of the city. It also warned against treating the incident as an isolated case.
The investigation is ongoing, with police teams working to identify and apprehend the suspects.
