Pranavi Urs produced a landmark performance at the Asian Games, becoming the first Indian woman to win gold in the individual golf stroke-play event after holding her nerve through a dramatic final round at Kasugai Country Club’s East Course.

Starting the final day with a three-shot advantage, Pranavi carded an even-par 70 to finish the four-day competition at 15-under 265 and secure the gold medal.

Her victory was also accompanied by another historic achievement for Indian golf, as Pranavi, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar combined to win silver in the women’s team competition. India finished the team event at 14-under 546, securing the country’s first medal in the women’s team golf event at the Asian Games.

Pranavi’s final round briefly appeared to be slipping away when she endured a difficult third hole and recorded a triple bogey, allowing Singapore’s Shannon Tan to move ahead. The Indian responded strongly, however, picking up birdies at the sixth, 10th and 13th holes to reclaim the lead.

She then negotiated the closing stretch without further damage, finishing the 18th hole at even par to complete her historic gold-medal campaign.

China’s Yin Ruoning and Singapore’s Shannon Tan shared the silver medal after both finished on 14-under par.

Among the other Indian competitors, Aditi Ashok finished 14th at two-over 282 after closing with a three-under 67. Diksha Dagar ended the competition in a tie for 23rd at 12-over after carding a seven-over round on the final day.

India’s women’s team entered the final round with hopes of securing two medals. Pranavi had established a sizeable lead in the individual standings, while the team remained in contention for a podium finish. The team eventually secured silver, adding to Pranavi’s individual gold.

Aditi, who had led the individual competition after the third round, was unable to maintain her position on the final day and ultimately finished outside the medal places.
