Parineeti Chopra uncovers murky world of sand mafia in ‘Reporting Live’

Following her OTT debut with the streaming series Shaque: Trust No One, Parineeti will play a field reporter pursuing a dangerous story involving illegal sand mining.

Her investigation takes her into the world of a powerful sand mafia determined to keep its operations, and the crimes surrounding them, hidden from public view.

The upcoming thriller features an ensemble cast that also includes Deven Bhojani and Adil Hussain.

Reporting Live is directed by Dhruv Tripathi, who has co-written the film with Mihir Jadhav. According to Tripathi, the project has been seven years in the making, from developing the screenplay to finally bringing the story to the screen.

The filmmaker said his intention was to create a thriller that remained grounded in reality without losing sight of the ordinary people caught at the centre of its larger conflict. He also credited the cast and crew for helping shape the film over the course of its production.

Producer Partha Kiran Thakur said the project was ambitious both in terms of its story and execution, with the team working towards a clear vision from the beginning.

Thakur also highlighted the film's multi-generational ensemble, which brings together established performers from different eras of Indian cinema.

One of the combinations the makers are particularly excited about is Parineeti and Deven Bhojani, who will be seen together on screen in roles that the producers say are different from anything the two actors have previously played.
