One suspected house burglar was injured in an exchange of fire with police in Greater Noida's Dadri area, while two other suspects escaped, prompting a search operation.
According to Noida Police, a team from Dadri police station was checking suspicious vehicles and individuals near Sector J-3 when they noticed four people travelling in a car.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants allegedly opened fire. Police retaliated, during which one of the suspects, identified as Ajay, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. He was apprehended and taken to a hospital for treatment.
During a subsequent search operation, police arrested another accused, identified as Sameer. The remaining two suspects reportedly fled under the cover of darkness. Teams have been deployed to trace and arrest them.
Stolen Jewellery, Cash and Weapons Recovered
Police recovered the car allegedly used in the crimes, along with an illegal pistol, ammunition and a knife. Stolen jewellery and Rs 6,000 in cash were also seized.
The recovered valuables included two pairs of silver anklets, four silver coins, a gold ring, a silver bracelet and a gold chain.
During interrogation, the arrested suspects allegedly told investigators that they targeted locked houses in four colonies in the Dadri area, including Omicron, Mu and Pink City. They reportedly conducted reconnaissance to identify unoccupied homes before carrying out thefts.
According to police records, Ajay has 15 criminal cases registered against him, while Sameer has four.
Police said the investigation was continuing to identify the two absconding suspects and establish whether the arrested men were involved in other theft cases. Raids are being conducted at suspected locations.
Investigators are also examining the recovered jewellery and cash to determine whether they are linked to other reported burglaries in the area.
