ICC Chairman Jay Shah congratulated the Indian men's T20 team after it secured the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games, defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the final at the Karogi Sports Park.

Shah, who attended the medal ceremony, also praised the Olympic Council of Asia, Japan's cricket authorities, organisers and participating teams for contributing to the tournament.

“Congratulations to Team India on a campaign worthy of this moment,” Shah said in a post on X, while thanking the competing nations, organisers and fans who attended the event.

India claimed the gold, with Pakistan taking silver and Sri Lanka securing the bronze. The victory gave India consecutive men's cricket gold medals at the Asian Games.

India posted 211/6 after being asked to bat, with Abhishek Sharma providing the initial impetus with a 61 off 28 balls. Tilak Varma then struck an unbeaten 51 from 22 deliveries, while Washington Sundar, Axar Patel and Shivam Dube contributed during an attacking finish.

Pakistan mounted a strong chase, led by Hasan Nawaz, who scored 96 from 51 balls. India's bowling attack kept the pressure on during the closing stages, however, with Dube dismissing Nawaz from the final delivery as Pakistan finished on 192/6.

The result gave India a 19-run victory and another Asian Games gold medal in men's cricket.

India had earlier secured the women's T20 cricket gold as well, defeating Sri Lanka in the final. With both teams winning their respective events, India completed a gold-medal double in cricket at the 2026 Asian Games.
