Himani Shivpuri remembers late Mushtaq Khan with throwback pic, says ‘she will miss him’

Actress Himani Shivpuri remembered her late co-star Mushtaq Khan with a nostalgic throwback picture, recalling the many films and television projects they worked on together.

Shivpuri shared the picture on social media, with Lata Mangeshkar’s Yeh Jeevan Hai playing in the background. The photograph features the two actors together in character.

In the still, Shivpuri can be seen dressed in an orange religious outfit, complete with a head covering and prayer beads, while Mushtaq Khan stands beside her in a striped shirt. The image appears to be from the 2015 Hindi film Kala Sach: The Black Truth, in which Shivpuri played Bhaktin, and Khan portrayed Kanhaiya.

Alongside the picture, Shivpuri wrote, “Suprabhat! RIP Mushtaq bhai. Done so many films and TV shows with you. Will miss you!”

The two actors had shared screen space on several occasions throughout their careers. Their collaborations included David Dhawan’s 2003 comedy Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, where Shivpuri played the mother of Tara and Sitara, while Khan appeared as Inspector Bahadur Singh.

They also worked together in the 2018 film When Obama Loved Osama, alongside actors including Hemant Pandey.

Shivpuri has enjoyed a long career across Hindi cinema and television. Her film credits include Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Pardes, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Anjaam and Mehndi, among others.

On television, she has appeared in shows such as Humrahi, Ghar Ek Sapnaa, Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, Sasural Simar Ka and Happu Ki Ultan Paltan.

Mushtaq Khan was a familiar presence across Hindi films, television and theatre, with a career spanning decades. He became particularly known for supporting and comic roles in films including Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Sadak, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Jodi No. 1, Hera Pheri, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Welcome, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Rowdy Rathore, Gadar 2, Badhaai Do and Stree 2.

One of his most memorable performances came in Anees Bazmee’s Welcome, where he played a former hockey player with a disability. His character’s humorous monologue about his artificial leg and his past as a hockey player became one of the film’s memorable comic moments.

Mushtaq Khan passed away in Mumbai on September 24, 2026, following cancer treatment. Shivpuri’s tribute offered a glimpse into the professional bond the two actors shared over several years.
