A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell reached the Vasundhara police outpost in Ghaziabad on Saturday to investigate an explosion that occurred near the premises on Friday night.
The outpost falls under the jurisdiction of the Indirapuram police station in Uttar Pradesh. The investigation is being carried out by multiple agencies, with the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), dog squad, forensic experts and local police teams already examining the site.
Ghaziabad Police Commissioner J. Ravinder Goud also visited the location and said investigators were examining all possible explanations for the explosion.
According to Goud, police received information about a blast near the rear wall of the Vasundhara outpost at around 9 p.m. on Friday. A Sub-Inspector and a delivery worker were present in the vicinity at the time.
He said investigators had collected the available evidence and that the Bomb Disposal Squad, field unit and forensic team were continuing their examination. The cause and nature of the explosion have not yet been established.
"Our primary objective is to determine how the incident occurred and what caused the explosion. We are looking into every aspect as part of the ongoing investigation," Goud said, adding that various Uttar Pradesh Police units were involved in the probe.
Delivery Worker Injured in Explosion
The explosion triggered panic in the surrounding locality. Its impact shattered windows and damaged air-conditioning units installed at the police outpost, officials said.
No police personnel were inside the outpost when the blast occurred, according to officials. However, a 20-year-old food delivery worker, identified as Vishal, sustained injuries after fragments of shattered glass struck him.
Vishal, a resident of Arthala in Ghaziabad, was reportedly making a delivery when the explosion took place. He was taken to a private hospital in Delhi's Surya Nagar for treatment.
Following the incident, police personnel and teams from relevant investigative agencies rushed to the scene. Forensic experts from Ghaziabad and the Bomb Disposal Squad were also called in to examine the area and collect evidence.
Cause of Blast Yet to Be Established
Police officials said the investigation was continuing from all possible angles. The precise cause of the explosion and the circumstances leading up to it remain unclear.
Investigators are expected to establish the nature and origin of the blast after a detailed forensic examination and analysis of the evidence recovered from the site.
Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
