Actor Deepak Tijori has spoken about the importance of yoga, breathing and making it a part of everyday life.
Actor Deepak Tijori has spoken about the importance of yoga in everyday life, describing the ancient Indian practice as something deeply rooted in the country’s culture and capable of influencing both physical health and overall personality.
Speaking exclusively to IANS at an event in Mumbai, Tijori emphasised that yoga should be incorporated into daily routines rather than treated as an occasional form of exercise.
“Yoga is very important for us Indians. It is in our blood. Wherever we go, we have to be number one. I would say that yoga is a very important aspect. Make it a routine in your life,” he said.
Tijori also focused on breathing as a central element of yoga and suggested that maintaining proper breathing could have an impact on the body’s internal functioning.
“It is related to breathing. Yoga means breathing. We breathe every moment in our life. If we keep our breathing right, the internal structure of our body will be fine,” he added.
The actor went on to discuss different forms of yoga, including hot yoga, Ashtanga yoga and Hatha yoga. He said these practices should be approached seriously and incorporated into everyday life.
According to Tijori, making yoga a regular practice can contribute to improvements in both health and personality.
Also speaking at the event was actress and doctor Aditi Govitrikar, who highlighted the broader impact of yoga on an individual's well-being.
“Yoga works on the body, breath and mind - three levels. When young people take yogasana seriously as a sport, it is very encouraging,” Govitrikar said.
The two actors were speaking at the 5th National Yogasana Sports Championship 2026 in Mumbai, an event that brought together representatives from the sporting, wellness and entertainment communities.
The championship seeks to promote yogasana as a competitive sporting discipline while encouraging fitness, balance, discipline and healthier lifestyles.
Several personalities attended the event, including Tijori, Govitrikar and actress Pooja Batra, as the championship continued its focus on bringing greater visibility to yogasana as both a sport and a practice associated with physical and mental well-being.
