India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan dedicated the country's Asian Games men's cricket gold medal to the entire nation after the team defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
India retained the men's T20 gold medal with the victory, earning its 19th gold medal of the ongoing Asian Games.
Kishan said the achievement went beyond the players on the field and belonged to every Indian who supported the team throughout the campaign.
He said medals won at multi-sport events such as the Asian Games and Olympics represent the collective achievement of the country, with athletes competing with the support and blessings of millions of people.
Kishan added that he hoped India's sporting victories would be celebrated across the country and enjoyed by everyone.
India, led by Shreyas Iyer, retained the same playing XI that featured in the semifinal against Sri Lanka. After opting to bat, the team posted 211/6, with Abhishek Sharma leading the charge with 61 and Tilak Varma remaining unbeaten on 51. Shivam Dube also contributed a valuable 27.
Pakistan made a strong start to the chase and remained in contention for much of the innings, largely due to Hasan Nawaz's aggressive 96 from 51 balls.
India, however, continued to take wickets at crucial moments. Washington Sundar and Axar Patel played important roles with the ball as Pakistan's chase lost momentum during the closing stages.
Pakistan eventually finished 19 runs short of India's target, allowing India to retain the Asian Games men's cricket gold and complete another successful campaign in the continental tournament.
