India opener Abhishek Sharma added two significant milestones to his rapidly growing T20 record book during his explosive 61 against Pakistan in the Asian Games gold-medal match at Korogi Sports Park.

Abhishek smashed seven sixes and three fours during his 28-ball innings, reaching 400 sixes in T20 cricket in the process. He also moved past West Indies great Chris Gayle to become the second-fastest batter to reach the landmark based on the number of deliveries faced.

The left-hander needed only 3,513 balls to hit his 400th T20 six. Gayle had previously reached the milestone in 3,557 deliveries, while Andre Russell remains the fastest, having done so in 3,027 balls.

**Fastest to 400 T20 sixes, by balls faced:**

Andre Russell – 3,027 Abhishek Sharma – 3,513 Chris Gayle – 3,557 Tim David – 3,803 Kieron Pollard – 3,944 Nicholas Pooran – 4,045 Evin Lewis – 4,072

Abhishek also achieved another landmark during the same innings, completing 100 sixes in T20 cricket during the 2026 calendar year.

He reached the 100-six mark in just 651 deliveries, making him the second-fastest player to hit that many maximums in a single calendar year. He surpassed the previous marks set by Dewald Brevis and Gayle, while Russell again holds the record.

**Fastest to 100 T20 sixes in a calendar year, by balls faced:**

Andre Russell – 589 balls (2019) Abhishek Sharma – 651 balls (2026) Dewald Brevis – 653 balls (2025) Chris Gayle – 724 balls (2016) Karanbir Singh – 728 balls (2025)

Abhishek's record-setting assault came as India opted to bat first after winning the toss in the Asian Games final. India retained the same playing XI for the title clash, leaving Arshdeep Singh, Yash Thakur and Vipraj Nigam among the substitutes.

Pakistan made one alteration to their side, bringing batting all-rounder Saad Masood into the XI in place of fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr.

The Indian opener's 61 off 28 balls also provided the foundation for India's imposing total in the gold-medal contest.
