Several Punjab National Bank (PNB) customers have alleged that crores of rupees were withdrawn from their accounts without authorisation at the bank’s Pi-1 branch in Greater Noida.
According to affected customers, substantial amounts of money have allegedly disappeared from their accounts. They claimed that after the discrepancies came to light, the bank replaced the branch’s entire staff and assured customers that steps were being taken to resolve the matter.
One account holder, Sonu, alleged that nearly Rs 90 lakh was missing from his account. He said bank officials had offered an explanation for the discrepancy and assured him that the money would be restored.
Another customer, Rahul, said approximately Rs 51 lakh had allegedly been withdrawn without authorisation from his mother’s account at the branch. He added that the account was not linked to a mobile number, preventing the family from receiving timely transaction alerts.
A third customer, Sonu Sagar, alleged that his father’s account, which previously held around Rs 88 lakh, showed a balance of only about Rs 1,290 in a recent statement.
Sagar claimed that the suspected embezzlement had been taking place for several years rather than being a recent development. He cited multiple transactions allegedly made from his father’s account on June 6, 2025, including withdrawals of Rs 25 lakh, Rs 21 lakh, Rs 20 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, along with several other transactions.
Customers Approach Police Over Alleged Irregularities
Affected account holders have filed complaints with the police, seeking action over the alleged unauthorised withdrawals.
In one complaint, a customer said he approached the bank after noticing discrepancies in his account but was asked to return after a day or two. When he revisited the branch, he allegedly found that senior officials were unavailable and normal banking operations had been disrupted.
The complainant further alleged that branch manager Nisha Tirkey informed customers on October 26 that the entire branch staff had been suspended.
The allegations have raised questions about how the suspected transactions occurred and how long the discrepancies may have gone undetected. Customers have sought the restoration of their funds and clarification from the bank regarding the transactions.
Punjab National Bank has not issued an official statement on the allegations so far. The complaints are expected to be investigated by the authorities to establish the facts and determine the extent of the suspected financial irregularities.
