Lindsay Lohan, Henry Golding begin work on new film ‘Return to You’

Lohan and Netflix announced the project through a joint Instagram post, revealing that the film will be set in 2008 and centre on an unexpected mystery involving a personal recording.

The story follows a successful but isolated attorney whose life takes an unexpected turn after she mistakenly receives a deeply emotional DVD that was intended for the husband of a dying woman.

“Lindsay Lohan and Henry Golding star in RETURN TO YOU, now in production!” the caption on the collaborative post read.

The post further revealed the premise of the film, stating: “Set in 2008, a powerful but lonely attorney mistakenly receives a very emotional DVD from a dying woman addressed to her husband. Guided only by the clues on the disc, she sets out to find him.”

The project brings together Lohan, who rose to fame as a child performer before becoming one of the most recognisable young stars of the late 1990s and 2000s, and Golding, who has appeared in films including *Crazy Rich Asians* and *A Simple Favor*.

Lohan began her acting career as a child, gaining early recognition through appearances in the soap operas *Guiding Light* in 1993 and *Another World*. Her major breakthrough came with Disney’s 1998 comedy *The Parent Trap*, in which she played reunited identical twins.

She subsequently appeared in projects including *Get a Clue* and *Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen*, building a career across film and television.

Away from acting, Lohan married financier Bader Shammas after their relationship began several years earlier. She announced their engagement in 2021, and the following year a representative confirmed that the couple had married after Lohan referred to Shammas as her “husband” in an Instagram birthday post.

In 2023, Lohan and Shammas welcomed their son in Dubai, where the actress has lived since 2014.

Lohan was most recently seen in the 2025 comedy *Freakier Friday*, directed by Nisha Ganatra. The film serves as a sequel to *Freaky Friday* and the fifth instalment in the franchise, reuniting Lohan with Jamie Lee Curtis alongside Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto and Mark Harmon.

In *Freakier Friday*, the body-swapping premise expands to include Anna and Tess Coleman switching bodies with Anna’s daughter Harper and her stepdaughter Lily, respectively.

With *Return to You* now in production, Lohan is set to take on another emotionally driven role, this time in a story built around a mysterious DVD and the search for the man to whom it was originally addressed.
