Romantic fantasy comedy *Wicker*, starring Academy Award winner Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, is set to release in Indian cinemas on October 30, 2026.
PVR INOX Pictures will distribute the film in India in association with Superfine Films. The ensemble cast also includes Peter Dinklage, Elizabeth Debicki and Richard E. Grant in key roles.
Directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, *Wicker* premiered at the Eccles Theatre in Utah, the United States, on January 24, 2026, as part of the Sundance Film Festival. The film also served as the closing title of the 59th Sitges Film Festival on October 18.
The film is scheduled to arrive in US cinemas on October 23, followed by releases in India and the United Kingdom on October 30. Australian audiences will see it in theatres on November 5.
Explaining their creative vision, directors Fischer and Wilson said in the production notes that the story explores the idea that accepting oneself is essential to loving another person.
They described their ambition as creating “a satirical comedy about sex and marriage, a unique visual spectacle, and a strange love story that would ground it all.” The filmmakers added that their primary goal was to give audiences an enjoyable cinematic experience.
Based on Ursula Wills’ short story *The Wicker Husband*, the film follows an ostracised fisherwoman who commissions a local basketmaker to create a wicker husband for her. However, when her unusual companion proves to be everything she hoped for and more, his arrival sets off a wave of jealousy, fascination and disruption throughout the village.
The film is backed by Topic Studios in collaboration with Tango Entertainment, Votiv, Yoki, Inc. and South of the River Picture. Anna Meredith composed its musical score.
