The Digital India BHASHINI Division and the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) have launched an AI-enabled document translation platform aimed at supporting the translation of official CAG docs.
Named **CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad**, the solution combines BHASHINI’s multilingual language technology with the specialised terminology and translation requirements of the CAG. The platform is designed to support existing institutional workflows while retaining human oversight over the translation process.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said the solution was developed by BHASHINI under the Digital India Corporation and unveiled during the closing ceremony of the 74th Hindi Diwas and Hindi Pakhwada 2026.
The customised Language AI platform has been developed to support consistent terminology, contextual translation and improved output quality for CAG documents. It also incorporates institutional requirements related to data security, controlled access and data sovereignty.
The initiative is aimed at demonstrating how language technology can help government institutions make official information available to citizens in multiple Indian languages.
The launch programme included a presentation on BHASHINI’s Language AI capabilities and its applications across government and public-facing services. Amitabh Nag, CEO of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, outlined the platform’s development across language datasets, AI models, applications and use cases, along with efforts to build a sovereign Language AI ecosystem suited to India’s linguistic diversity.
CAG Comptroller and Auditor General K. Sanjay Murthy stressed the importance of making audit findings and reports accessible to citizens in languages they can understand. He also highlighted the role of technology in expanding access to audit information in local and regional languages while supporting the wider use of Hindi and other Indian languages in official work.
BHASHINI currently supports 36 Indian languages in text, 23 Indian languages through voice and 35 international languages. Its technology is being used across a range of public-service applications, including multilingual agricultural advisories, voice-based grievance registration and processing, and conversational services that allow citizens to access information through voice and telephone interfaces.
