Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Saturday alleged that extremists were responsible for the explosion at a police outpost in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad and questioned why Muslim political leaders, including....
Speaking to reporters, Singh said he had no hostility or fear towards Muslims but maintained that extremist elements must be opposed. He alleged that the Ghaziabad explosion was carried out by Muslim extremists and criticised what he described as the absence of condemnation from Muslim leaders.
Singh’s allegations have not been independently verified. Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) are investigating the explosion, while the exact cause remains undetermined.
Singh targets Owaisi, Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi
The Union Minister accused Owaisi of remaining silent over the incident and alleged that some political leaders were reluctant to condemn such acts because of electoral considerations.
He also said that those responsible should not attempt to intimidate Uttar Pradesh, asserting that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would not be intimidated by such incidents.
Questioning the response from Muslim leaders, Singh called on members of the Muslim community in Uttar Pradesh to publicly condemn the explosion. He claimed that a failure to do so could be interpreted as tacit support for the extremists, though he provided no evidence to substantiate that assertion.
Singh also targeted Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that their silence, along with Owaisi’s, was driven by the pursuit of Muslim votes.
Explosion damages Ghaziabad police outpost
The explosion took place late Friday night at the Vasundhara police outpost, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad. The blast triggered panic in the surrounding locality.
The impact shattered windowpanes and damaged air-conditioning units installed at the outpost. The explosion was reportedly heard from a considerable distance.
No police personnel were inside the outpost when the blast occurred. However, a 20-year-old food delivery executive, identified as Vishal, was injured after fragments of shattered glass struck him while he was making a delivery.
Vishal, a resident of Arthala in Ghaziabad, was admitted to a private hospital in Surya Nagar, Delhi, for treatment.
Forensic teams examine blast site
Following the explosion, police personnel and officials from various investigative agencies reached the location. Forensic experts and a bomb disposal squad were also deployed to examine the site and collect evidence.
Investigators are examining the incident from multiple angles. The precise cause of the explosion has not yet been established and is expected to be determined following forensic analysis and examination of the evidence collected from the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
