TRE-4, Group D Aspirants Protest in Patna Over Recruitment Demands

TRE-4 candidates gathered outside the residence of Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, seeking permission for candidates appearing for the CTET 2026 examination to also participate in the BPSC TRE-4 recruitment process.

The demand has been raised by CTET aspirants who have sought an opportunity similar to that available to candidates appearing for the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET).

At another location, Group D aspirants marched from Gandhi Maidan towards the Chief Minister’s residence. Police stopped the protesters near JP Golambar after erecting barricades to prevent them from moving further.

Around 500 protesters subsequently sat down at the spot and began a sit-in. Carrying the Tricolour and displaying posters and banners, they raised slogans demanding that the government complete the recruitment process and address their long-pending grievances.

Some demonstrators also brought folding cots to the protest site. The candidates said they had already been demonstrating at Gardanibagh for around 30 days without receiving a satisfactory response.

One protester said he had applied for the recruitment in 2012 after an advertisement promised employment opportunities for eligible candidates. He alleged that although the recruitment was intended for candidates with matriculation and Class 8-level qualifications, the examination contained questions of significantly higher difficulty.

The protesters alleged that their concerns had not been addressed despite their prolonged agitation and claimed that no government representative had come forward to hold discussions with them.

Another candidate claimed that the group comprised 9,720 applicants who submitted their applications in 2023 and appeared for the examination in 2024, but appointments had yet to be completed.

The candidates are demanding that the government finalise the appointment process and resolve the issues surrounding the recruitment.

Police made security arrangements at several points along the protest routes, putting up barricades and deploying personnel to regulate the movement of demonstrators. Water cannons and riot-control vehicles were also kept ready.

The protests come amid continued mobilisation by job aspirants in Patna over recruitment delays and examination-related issues.

The Bihar government has previously announced changes to the TRE-4 recruitment process following protests by teacher aspirants, including a decision to conduct the examination in a single phase.
