A suspected explosion was reported on the Ramsinghpur-Anupgarh railway line in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district late Tuesday night, triggering panic among residents of nearby villages.
The blast occurred near Ramsinghpur and produced a loud sound that was heard in the town and surrounding areas, including village 58 GB. Alarmed by the noise, several residents reportedly stepped out of their homes to find out what had happened.
A train had passed through the section shortly before the incident, officials said.
Police teams from Ramsinghpur and neighbouring stations reached the site, followed by senior police and administrative officials. Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Harishankar also visited the location with other officers.
The SP confirmed that a suspicious explosion had taken place directly on the railway track. However, its cause and exact nature have not yet been established.
Forensic Examination and Railway Inspection
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has been deployed to examine the site and collect evidence. Police said all possible angles were being investigated and cautioned against drawing conclusions before the forensic findings were available.
Railway officials also reached the spot to inspect the track and assess whether the explosion had caused any damage to the infrastructure. Security and inspection measures have been strengthened following the incident.
A senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) confirmed that no trains were present on the affected section at the time of the inspection. The official acknowledged that an incident had occurred but said there was no conclusive information about its nature.
Among those present at the site were Railway Senior Section Engineer (PWI) Naval Kishore, members of the CID and FSL teams, Jaitsar Naib Tehsildar Ankit Godara and Anupgarh Additional District Magistrate Ashok Sagwa.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the blast. The cause of the explosion and the extent of any possible damage to railway infrastructure remain unknown.
