DMK president M.K. Stalin is scheduled to address a public meeting in Madurantakam on Saturday in support of the party's candidate Paranthaman, as campaigning for the October 6 Assembly bypoll enters its final phase.
The constituency is witnessing a five-way contest, with candidates and senior leaders from the competing parties intensifying their outreach ahead of the campaign deadline on Sunday.
Stalin's meeting is part of the DMK's final push to consolidate support for Paranthaman. Local party workers have been making arrangements for the gathering, with several senior functionaries expected to participate.
The DMK chief's visit comes a day before campaigning officially ends and will provide the party with one of its last major opportunities to present its case to voters in the constituency.
Madurantakam and Dharapuram are both scheduled to vote on October 6. Campaign activity in the two constituencies has increased in recent days, with senior leaders travelling to the seats to address meetings and participate in programmes organised by their respective parties.
The five-cornered contest in Madurantakam has resulted in an intensified campaign, with parties using the remaining days to reach voters and mobilise their organisational networks.
Stalin's appearance is expected to form a key part of the DMK's closing campaign programme in the constituency. After Sunday's final round of campaigning, public canvassing will come to an end ahead of polling on Tuesday.
Attention will then shift to election-day preparations in Madurantakam and Dharapuram as voters prepare to cast their ballots on October 6.
