Retired IAS Officer Found Murdered at Bhopal Home, Missing Domestic Help Under Scanner

The victim, identified as Rakesh Agarwal, was found dead inside his home under the Ratibad police station limits. Police said he had suffered injuries to his neck caused by a sharp-edged weapon. Agarwal was living at the residence with his wife.

The incident came to light after his body was discovered inside the house, following which senior police officials reached the scene and launched an investigation.

Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar and other senior officers inspected the residence as investigators secured the area. A Forensic Science Laboratory team was also called in to collect evidence and examine the crime scene.

A domestic worker hired by Agarwal around two days before the murder has emerged as a key suspect, according to police. The man has reportedly been missing since the incident.

“The investigation is at a preliminary stage. The domestic help is a prime suspect as he has been missing after the incident. Police teams are searching for him, and CCTV footage and other evidence are being examined,” a Ratibad police official said.

Several police teams have been deployed to trace the missing domestic help. Investigators are examining CCTV recordings from the residence and surrounding areas to track his movements before and after the incident.

Police are also questioning neighbours and others familiar with the household to determine whether anyone visited the residence around the time of the killing.

Forensic evidence recovered from the house is being examined alongside CCTV footage as investigators work to reconstruct the sequence of events. Police are also looking into the possible motive and whether the suspected domestic help acted alone or had assistance.

The motive for the alleged murder has not yet been established.

A post-mortem examination of the body has been ordered, while forensic teams continue to analyse evidence collected from the residence. Further investigation is underway.
