The Rajasthan State Election Commission has revised the schedule for the first three phases of the state's Panchayati Raj elections, citing concerns over religious sentiments and public convenience during festive period.
Under the revised schedule, polling for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members, along with elections for Panch and Sarpanch posts, has been advanced by one day in each of the first three phases. The schedule for the fourth phase remains unchanged.
Elections for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will now be held on October 22, October 28, November 3 and November 14 across the four phases.
Polling for Panch and Sarpanch posts will take place on October 24, October 30, November 5 and November 16, respectively.
Under the earlier schedule, voting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members was scheduled for October 23, October 29, November 4 and November 14, while polling for Panch and Sarpanch positions was to be held on October 25, October 31, November 6 and November 16.
For the first phase, voting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will take place on October 22. Nominations for Panch and Sarpanch posts will be filed on October 23, followed by polling on October 24. The Deputy Sarpanch election will be held on October 25.
In the second phase, voting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members is scheduled for October 28. Candidates contesting Panch and Sarpanch posts will file their nominations on October 29, with polling taking place on October 30. The Deputy Sarpanch election will follow on October 31.
For the third phase, polling for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be held on November 3. Nominations for Panch and Sarpanch posts will be filed on November 4, followed by voting on November 5. The Deputy Sarpanch election is scheduled for November 6.
There has been no change to the fourth-phase schedule. Voting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will take place on November 14, while polling for Panch and Sarpanch posts will be held on November 16.
The revised timetable comes after the State Election Commission decided to bring forward the first three phases by a day, providing an updated phase-wise schedule for candidates, voters and election authorities ahead of the rural local body polls.
