Punjab Congress President S. Pargat Singh said Gandhi’s visit would provide fresh momentum to the party’s political campaign in the Malwa region and encourage leaders and workers to intensify preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections.

Pargat Singh reviewed arrangements for the rally and said people across the state were looking forward to Gandhi’s visit. AICC general secretary Sachin Pilot has also been visiting the venue in Sangrur, along with other party leaders, to oversee preparations.

The Congress is expected to use the rally to target the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government over its alleged failures.

In an earlier post on X, the Punjab Congress had appealed to supporters to gather at Fagguwala village at 10 am for the event.

Malwa Region in Focus Ahead of 2027 Polls

Pargat Singh described the rally as an important part of the party’s efforts to defend Punjab’s rights and address concerns about its future. He underlined the political significance of the Malwa region, whose Assembly constituencies play a substantial role in shaping electoral outcomes in the state.

He said launching the campaign from Sangrur would be an important element of the Punjab Congress strategy ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

The party intends to strengthen its grassroots outreach, mobilise workers and raise issues affecting residents across Punjab, he said.

Pargat Singh added that Gandhi’s visit would help bring party leaders and workers together and give them renewed impetus to step up preparations for the upcoming elections.
