President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President C.P Radhakrishnan extended greetings to air warriors, veterans and their families on the 94th Air Force Day, praising the Indian Air Force for its professionalism & discipline.

In a post on X, President Murmu described the IAF's service to the nation as exemplary and highlighted the force's high standards of preparedness and professionalism. She said Operation Sindoor demonstrated the courage, precision and operational readiness of Indian air warriors in protecting the country's security.

Murmu also noted the IAF's role in assisting in natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies. She said the dedication of its personnel remained a source of inspiration and pride for the nation and wished the force continued success in upholding its legacy of service.

Vice-President Radhakrishnan also conveyed his greetings to IAF personnel and their families, praising their valour, professionalism and commitment to duty.

He said the IAF's contribution to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief reflected its commitment to serving people during times of crisis, while its operational role continued to safeguard India's sovereignty.

October 8 marks the 94th Raising Day of the Indian Air Force and commemorates the establishment of the force in 1932. The occasion is observed every year to honour IAF personnel and recognise their contribution to protecting India's airspace and supporting national security.

The anniversary will be marked with a major Suryakiran aerial display at Jodhpur Air Force Station alongside Tarang Shakti 2026. The celebrations also provide an opportunity to showcase India's air power, advanced aircraft, operational capabilities and indigenous defence technologies.

The IAF was established during the British colonial period, with its first operational squadron, No. 1 Squadron, formed in 1933. Following Independence, the force played important roles in military operations including the 1947-48 Jammu and Kashmir operations, the 1965 and 1971 wars and the Kargil conflict, besides subsequent counter-terrorism operations.
