Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet the newly appointed NITI Aayog leadership on Thursday to review ongoing policy initiatives and discuss the roadmap to achieve the government's Viksit Bharat vision 2047.
During the meeting, each member of the government think tank is expected to make a two-slide presentation outlining key issues, ongoing policy initiatives and areas of work aligned with India's long-term development objectives.
The discussions are expected to cover the progress of existing policy initiatives, challenges arising from global uncertainties and key priorities for the 2027-28 Union Budget.
Strengthening domestic manufacturing, generating employment opportunities and accelerating economic growth are likely to be among the major areas of focus.
NITI Aayog Leadership to Participate
Those expected to attend include Vice Chairman Ashok Lahiri, CEO Anurag Jain and members Rajiv Gauba, R. Balasubramaniam, Joram Aniya, K.V. Raju, M. Srinivas, Gobardhan Das and Abhay Karandikar.
Other senior officials of the policy think tank are also expected to participate in the deliberations.
The meeting assumes significance as the government continues to work towards its Viksit Bharat @2047 objective of transforming India into a developed nation by the centenary of its Independence.
Earlier Governing Council Meeting Focused on Inclusive Development
On June 11, Modi chaired the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi.
Held under the theme 'Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat @2047', the meeting brought together Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators representing all 28 states and five Union Territories. Union Ministers and senior NITI Aayog officials also attended.
The deliberations focused on strengthening human capital, developing skills for future workforce requirements, promoting productive employment and entrepreneurship, improving healthcare and ensuring equity and dignity for citizens.
Participants also discussed the role of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and data-driven governance in improving public service delivery and advancing inclusive development.
The meeting highlighted the importance of cooperative federalism and stronger coordination between the Centre and state governments to accelerate development initiatives.
Other issues included expanding the Lakhpati Didi initiative, with a proposed increase in its beneficiary target from three crore to six crore, addressing the impact of climate change on agriculture and improving coordination between central and state policies.
