Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended his greetings to the air warriors and their families on Indian Air Force Day, praising their dedication, courage and commitment to protecting the country's skies.
Modi said India takes pride in the Indian Air Force (IAF) and its role in safeguarding the nation. In a post on X, he paid tribute to the service personnel for their courage and dedication.
In a video message, the Prime Minister also congratulated air warriors and their families who have served the country. He noted that operations in the air involve unpredictable challenges and said the IAF's capabilities have drawn the attention of citizens while strengthening their sense of security.
The Indian Air Force, the aerial arm of the Indian Armed Forces, was established on October 8, 1932, initially as an auxiliary air force under British rule. It has since developed into a major air power, with its responsibilities including protecting Indian airspace and conducting aerial operations during armed conflicts.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted the IAF on the occasion, saluting its personnel for their courage, precision and operational capabilities. He paid tribute to the air warriors and remembered those who lost their lives in service of the nation.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended his greetings to the IAF personnel and their families. He described the force as a symbol of courage, strength and determination and said its contribution remains a source of pride for the country.
The leaders' messages came as the IAF marked its 94th Air Force Day, commemorating the establishment of the service and honouring its serving personnel, veterans and their families.
