Nitin Nabin Tells BJP State In-Charges to Prioritise Ground Work, Limit Delhi Visits

Nabin issued the message during a meeting with the party’s state in-charges and co-in-charges at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting was the first collective interaction of the newly appointed functionaries following the party’s recent organisational reshuffle across 28 states and eight Union Territories.

According to reports, around 65 state in-charges and co-in-charges attended the meeting, which covered organisational expansion, preparations for upcoming Assembly elections and efforts to broaden the party’s outreach among different sections of society.

Nabin told the functionaries that the responsibilities assigned to them should remain their primary focus and asked them to place organisational work ahead of individual considerations. He also emphasised the need for regular visits to their respective states and sustained coordination with local party units.

The BJP president stressed the importance of maintaining a strong connection with the organisation at the grassroots level. State in-charges were asked to ensure that organisational programmes reach booth-level workers and that feedback from the ground is conveyed to the central leadership.

The meeting also focused on making organisational reviews more structured. Functionaries were asked to hold regular meetings, set clear agendas and assess whether decisions and targets discussed during previous meetings had been implemented.

Nabin also emphasised outreach among women, young people and other sections of society. Party functionaries were asked to regularly conduct organisational programmes and maintain sustained engagement with social groups.

The newly appointed leaders were further directed to remain actively involved in preparations in states where Assembly elections are scheduled. The BJP recently completed a reshuffle of its state-level organisational structure, appointing in-charges and co-in-charges across all 28 states and eight Union Territories ahead of the 2027 election cycle.

According to sources cited in reports, the leadership had received complaints that some functionaries were spending considerable time in the national capital seeking meetings with senior leaders. Nabin's message was that those assigned responsibility for a state should spend adequate time there and concentrate on organisational work.

The meeting comes as the BJP prepares its organisational machinery for elections in several states in 2027, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Manipur.

The emphasis on state-level engagement reflects the party leadership’s stated focus on strengthening its organisational network from the state level down to booths and maintaining closer feedback channels between local units and the central leadership.
