Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called on newly commissioned Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to prioritise practical policing over social media visibility and work towards eliminating the drug menace.
Addressing the passing-out parade of the 44th and 45th batches of DSPs at the Madhya Pradesh Police Academy in Bhauri, Yadav inspected the parade, took the salute and presented shields and certificates to outstanding trainees.
A total of 48 officers, including 20 women, completed their training. For the first time, the academy also trained DSPs from the radio cadre. As many as 22 trainees had engineering backgrounds.
"In this age of social media, we hope our new officers will solve real problems more than make reels," Yadav said.
CM Calls for Drug-Free Madhya Pradesh by 2029
The Chief Minister said Naxalite activity had previously obstructed development in tribal regions, but the state had overcome the challenge ahead of the stipulated deadline, demonstrating the capabilities of its police force.
He urged the newly commissioned officers to build on the state's earlier successes in tackling dacoity and Naxalism and focus on eliminating drug-related problems by 2029.
Yadav also asked the officers to become "messengers of hope" for vulnerable sections of society, emphasising the need to find solutions to public concerns rather than merely identifying problems.
Recounting the state's efforts to dismantle dacoit gangs in the Chambal and Rewa regions and eliminate Naxalism ahead of schedule, he said the same determination must now be applied to the fight against drugs.
Rs 12 Crore Development Package Announced for Police Academy
Yadav announced development projects worth Rs 12 crore at the Madhya Pradesh Police Academy. The proposed works include an auditorium, a power sub-station and a one-kilometre approach road.
He also approved out-of-turn promotions for 63 police personnel who had participated in anti-Naxal operations, commending their courage and service.
The Chief Minister said the state had recruited 17,710 personnel into the police department over the past three years against a target of 22,500 posts. He added that promotions had also been provided to personnel to strengthen morale within the force.
Yadav directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to take strict action against illegal liquor networks operating across Madhya Pradesh.
Congratulating the newly commissioned officers, he said the state's 8.5 crore residents were placing their trust in them and urged them to serve with dedication and integrity.
DGP Highlights Drug Abuse and Cybercrime Challenges
DGP Kailash Makwana identified the growing use of drugs among young people as a major challenge for the state.
He said the police had launched the "Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori" campaign and were working towards the goal of making Madhya Pradesh drug-free by 2029, following the calls made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Chief Minister.
Makwana also highlighted the growing threat of cybercrime, noting that the department had initiated the "Safe Click" awareness campaign.
He stressed the importance of strengthening cyber police stations, help desks, forensic facilities and dedicated helplines to improve the state's response to online offences.
The DGP urged the newly commissioned officers to follow standard operating procedures during field operations and give equal importance to their own safety while carrying out police duties.
