The withdrawal of the southwest monsoon has brought a noticeable change in weather across Delhi-NCR, with mornings and evenings turning slightly cooler even as daytime conditions remain sunny and warm.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon has now fully retreated from the Delhi-NCR region. The capital is expected to remain dry and largely clear, with no significant possibility of rain or drizzle over the coming days.
Daytime temperatures are expected to remain around 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to settle near 24 degrees Celsius. Similar conditions are forecast from October 3 to 5, with no major weather system expected to bring rain or thunderstorms during this period.
Winds are expected to remain a factor in keeping daytime temperatures from rising sharply. They could reach speeds of around 20-22 kmph during the day before easing to approximately 15 kmph during the evening and night.
The recent spell of rain across Delhi-NCR and neighbouring areas has contributed to the fall in both maximum and minimum temperatures. As a result, residents are experiencing a mild coolness during early mornings and after sunset, although the afternoon sun remains relatively strong.
Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remained in the 'moderate' category. Monitoring stations recorded AQI levels of 154 at Mandir Marg, 149 at Aya Nagar, 186 at Punjabi Bagh, 191 at CRRI Mathura Road, 190 at Pusa, 173 at Sirifort and 167 at IGI Airport Terminal 3.
Other readings included 163 at NSIT Dwarka, 173 at Burari Crossing, 198 at Alipur, 189 at R.K. Puram, 143 at Anand Vihar, 193 at Mundka, 188 at Rohini and 133 at Patparganj.
With the monsoon now withdrawn from the region, Delhi-NCR is expected to transition towards drier autumn conditions, accompanied by increasingly cooler mornings and evenings in the coming weeks.
