A minor boy identified as Natik was shot dead by three motorcycle-borne assailants in Sector 22, Chandigarh, late Thursday evening, police said. Two other people, including the autorickshaw driver, sustained injuries.

According to police, Natik was travelling in an autorickshaw with a friend when the attackers opened fire. The injured driver was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators suspect that the killing may be linked to an ongoing dispute between two groups. Police said Natik and his friends had reportedly been involved in a rivalry with another group for around two years.

On Thursday, the two groups allegedly clashed in Sector 44. One of the accused reportedly shared a video of the confrontation on Instagram, which investigators are also examining as part of the sequence of events.

While police initially suspected gang-related violence, the investigation subsequently focused on the alleged rivalry and dispute between the groups. Police have reportedly identified the suspects, and further investigation is underway.

**Earlier Shooting Incident in Sector 22**

The latest incident comes weeks after a Chandigarh Police Head Constable was shot dead at his official residence in Sector 22 in September.

The deceased officer was identified as Nitin, who was posted in the Accounts Branch of the Chandigarh Police. Police had taken his son into custody in connection with the killing.

Following reports of the shooting, a team from Sector 17 police station reached the residence and initiated an investigation. A country-made pistol was recovered from the scene, while forensic experts were called in to collect evidence.

Nitin was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur said the officer's wife and son were present at the time.

In another incident involving an attack on a police officer, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jaswant Singh, posted in Ajnala in Amritsar, survived an alleged shooting by motorcycle-borne assailants on September 11. The bullet reportedly passed through his turban.

Police are continuing their investigation into the killing of the minor boy in Sector 22 to establish the circumstances behind the shooting and determine the involvement of the suspected assailants.
