Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday called for active public participation in the state’s anti-drug campaign, stressing that collective efforts would be essential to achieve the government’s target.

Yadav made the appeal while attending a de-addiction programme organised by the Shiv Panth community in Ajgariya village of Barwani district on the occasion of Sharad Purnima.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted the harmful consequences of substance abuse and urged people to take a pledge to spread awareness about addiction and support efforts to build a healthier society.

“Addiction is the root of destruction, and staying away from it is the foundation of a happy and meaningful life,” Yadav said.

He called on citizens to take responsibility for raising awareness about substance abuse within their communities and encourage people to avoid intoxicating substances.

Government Targets Drug-Free Madhya Pradesh by 2029

Yadav said the state government was committed to achieving the drug-free target by 2029, in line with the stated resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.

In a post on X on Monday, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminating drug abuse across the state.

He emphasised that the campaign would require sustained cooperation between the administration and the public, with grassroots awareness playing an important role in preventing addiction.

Community Groups Urged to Join Anti-Addiction Campaign

The Chief Minister also highlighted the potential contribution of social organisations and religious groups in spreading awareness about the adverse effects of substance abuse.

Such community-led initiatives can help encourage people to seek support for addiction-related problems and promote healthier choices, according to the message conveyed at the programme.

The state’s 2029 target will require continued efforts to prevent substance abuse, strengthen public awareness and mobilise citizens to participate in anti-addiction initiatives.

The programme in Barwani formed part of community-level efforts to promote de-addiction and encourage collective participation in the campaign.
