The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has arrested a man allegedly involved in the murder of Punjabi social media influencer and make-up artist Mad Sandhu in Amritsar, identifying him as the suspected shooter.

The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has arrested a man allegedly involved in the murder of Punjabi social media influencer and make-up artist Mad Sandhu in Amritsar, identifying him as the suspected shooter who also arranged the motorcycle used in the attack, police said on Thursday.

Police identified the accused as Parminder Prasad alias Parminder Kaka. Ahmedabad Crime Branch DCP Ajit Rajian said Parminder allegedly carried out the firing that killed Sandhu and arranged the motorcycle used by the attackers.

“His role is that of the shooter. He did the firing and also arranged the bike,” Rajian said.

The arrest followed an input from Amritsar Police and coordination between police teams in Punjab and Gujarat. The accused was traced to Ahmedabad, where the Crime Branch took him into custody as part of the investigation.

Rajian said a case has been registered as FIR No. 186/2026 under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar. Further legal proceedings are underway.

Sandhu, whose real name was Madhusudan Sandhu, was shot dead on October 3 by two motorcycle-borne assailants near a car wash centre on Loharka Road in Amritsar.

According to police, the attackers opened fire before fleeing the area. Sandhu was taken to a private hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following the killing, investigators examined multiple possible angles. Police collected CCTV footage from the area and looked into Sandhu's movements and digital records as part of efforts to identify those responsible for the attack.

Amritsar Police had also reportedly detained two people while investigating a possible contract-killing angle.

Sandhu, 29, had a significant social media following and was known for his work as a make-up artist. He also spoke about make-up artistry and gender-related issues through podcasts and other digital platforms.

He had more than two lakh followers on Instagram and had appeared in the Punjabi film *Oye Bhole Oye*.

The murder also came under scrutiny after social media posts allegedly linked to foreign-based gangsters claimed responsibility for the killing. Punjab Police, however, had said that the authenticity of those posts had not been established.

Investigators have also been examining possible links between the murder and the network associated with gangster Goldy Dhillon.

The arrest of the alleged shooter is expected to help investigators piece together the sequence of events surrounding the killing, establish the roles of other suspected accomplices and determine the circumstances behind the alleged contract killing.
