Kerala Gang Rape Case: Two Held in Kalamassery, Police Search for Two More

Kochi City Police Commissioner S. Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar said investigators were examining all aspects of the case and efforts were underway to trace the remaining accused.

According to police, the woman was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted after being lured to a lodge in Edappally following a job interview at a spa.

The victim had reportedly responded to an OLX advertisement seeking a manager for a spa and attended an interview on September 2. Later that evening, a woman allegedly contacted her and asked her to reach a lodge in Edappally. An Uber taxi was reportedly arranged for her journey.

Police said the woman was offered a drink after reaching the lodge and allegedly lost consciousness after consuming it. Investigators suspect she was subsequently sexually assaulted by multiple people.

According to the police investigation, the victim may have been kept at the lodge for around a day, during which she was allegedly given drugs and alcohol and subjected to repeated sexual assault. The alleged offences are believed to have taken place on September 2 and 3.

Police said a woman was also among the suspects involved in the alleged sexual assault.

One of the people taken into custody is suspected to have links with several spas operating in Kochi, prompting investigators to examine whether those connections played a role in the incident.

The victim, who lives in Kochi with her husband, is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

Investigators are examining the job advertisement, the alleged involvement of people connected to the spa industry and the circumstances in which the woman was taken to the lodge.

Police are also investigating whether additional people were involved and whether the suspects may have been connected to any similar incidents in the past.
