The Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday said it was confident the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would win all eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council elections, citing public support.
JD(U) chief spokesperson and MLC candidate Neeraj Kumar described the Patna Graduates’ Constituency, considered one of the closely watched seats in the election, as a “cool seat” despite its reputation as a political battleground.
“This Patna Graduates’ Constituency, which is being called a hot seat, is actually a cool seat. Considering the voters’ inclination, the restraint shown by our workers, and the seriousness with which the NDA leadership contested the election, we are confident that the election results will be in our favour,” Kumar said.
His remarks came as counting began across the state, with the alliance expressing optimism about its prospects in all the constituencies.
JD(U) Leaders Cite Government’s Performance
JD(U) leader Shyam Rajak also voiced confidence in the NDA’s electoral performance, arguing that the results would reflect public support for the candidates and the work undertaken by the party.
“Our victory is the victory of the people. The public has seen the work done by our candidates, is also witnessing the work of our party and is benefiting from it,” Rajak said.
He particularly highlighted initiatives in the education sector, claiming that developments in the field had benefited people and contributed to changes in public perception.
Rajak said the alliance expected a decisive mandate across all eight seats.
“There has also been a transformation among people because of the major work done in the education sector, and they have benefited from it. We are completely confident that the NDA will win all eight seats. The people will give us a mandate on a very large scale,” he added.
The leaders’ statements reflected the NDA’s confidence ahead of the final results. The outcome will determine whether the alliance can secure victories across all four Graduates’ and four Teachers’ constituencies.
Counting Under Tight Security
Counting for the eight Bihar Legislative Council seats began at 8 a.m. on Tuesday under heightened security arrangements.
A total of 150 candidates are contesting the elections across four Graduates’ constituencies and four Teachers’ constituencies.
Authorities have restricted access to counting centres to individuals carrying valid passes. Mobile phone use inside the premises has also been prohibited as officials supervise the counting process.
The final results will establish the outcome of the contest across the eight constituencies and determine whether the NDA’s expectations are borne out by the count.
