The Israeli military has said it has struck around 100,000 targets across the Middle East since October 2023, while expanding its reserve forces by 36 per cent as military operations continued into their third year.
The military said on Wednesday that combat reservists were serving an average of 80 to 100 days in 2026, compared with a planned average of around 55 days. It attributed the increase to what it described as evolving operational requirements.
It also said around 22,000 reservists who had previously completed their service were called back to duty following an August 2024 mobilisation order.
According to the military, the reported target tally includes around 65,000 targets in Gaza, 28,000 in Lebanon and Syria combined, 4,500 in Iran and 80 in Yemen. It did not clarify whether the figures included repeated strikes on the same locations.
In the occupied West Bank, the military said it had detained around 45,000 people for questioning over the past three years. Those detained included people accused of throwing stones or possessing weapons, as well as individuals suspected of planning attacks.
The military also reported seizing more than 3,800 weapons since the conflict began.
Its figures showed that around 10,200 projectiles had been launched at Israel from Gaza over the three-year period, alongside approximately 20,000 from Lebanon, 1,200 from Iran, 50 from Syria and 90 from Yemen. The figures have not been independently verified.
The Israeli military said 970 of its soldiers had been killed during operations since the conflict began. It also said more than 70 per cent of soldiers wounded during the war had subsequently returned to active service.
The conflict began after the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, in which around 1,200 people were killed. Israel subsequently launched a large-scale military campaign in Gaza, where health authorities have reported more than 74,200 deaths. The fighting later expanded to other parts of the region.
