Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has expanded its inflight catering infrastructure ahead of the Winter 2026-27 flight schedule, with its dedicated flight kitchen operated by aviation catering company TajSATS now.

The facility, located on airport premises, can currently prepare up to 7,500 meals daily. This capacity can be scaled up to 15,000 meals a day as airline operations and passenger traffic increase.

The Winter 2026-27 aviation schedule runs from October 25 to March 27, 2027.

Subhash Murikenchery, Chief Airport Officer at Navi Mumbai International Airport, said the airport's supporting infrastructure would need to expand alongside its growing airline network. He said the TajSATS facility would give airlines greater flexibility to respond to rising demand while supporting the passenger dining experience.

The flight kitchen includes dedicated production infrastructure, refrigeration systems and operational processes designed to accommodate changes in airline schedules and fluctuations in demand.

Its location within the airport precinct also allows meals to be transported efficiently to departing aircraft.

NMIA said the facility provides local meal-uplift capabilities for international carriers operating flights to and from India, giving airlines an additional catering option closer to their point of departure.

According to the airport, around 40 per cent of international carriers operating from India rely on back catering from their own flight kitchens. The NMIA facility has been developed to support this requirement alongside the catering needs of domestic airlines.

The kitchen provides catering services to both domestic and international carriers and can accommodate a range of dietary requirements, including special meals, allergen-sensitive menus and halal food.

NMIA said the facility follows food safety and quality standards including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), ISO 22000 and regulations prescribed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

TajSATS has more than four decades of experience in aviation catering and also operates the flight kitchen at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The airport said the NMIA facility is already operational and has been designed to scale its capacity in line with the airport's expected growth in airline connectivity and passenger volumes.
