Indian Railways Approves New MEMU Services Linking Meerut With Khurja, Saharanpur

According to the Ministry of Railways, the new services will operate on both routes with commercial stoppages at all stations along their respective sections, allowing passengers in smaller towns and intermediate locations to access the services.

The Khurja-Meerut City MEMU will operate as Train No. 64573, while its return service from Meerut City to Khurja will run as Train No. 64574.

The service from Khurja will depart at 1:15 pm and reach Meerut City at 5:20 pm, completing the journey in four hours and five minutes. In the opposite direction, the Meerut City-Khurja MEMU will leave Meerut City at 11:25 am and arrive at Khurja at 4 pm.

The second service will connect Meerut City with Saharanpur. Train No. 64580 will operate from Saharanpur to Meerut City, while Train No. 64579 will run in the opposite direction.

The Saharanpur-Meerut City MEMU will depart Saharanpur at 5:50 am and reach Meerut City at 8:10 am, taking two hours and 20 minutes. The return service will leave Meerut City at 5:45 pm and reach Saharanpur at 8:40 pm.

The new services are expected to provide greater flexibility for daily commuters and other passengers travelling between Meerut, Khurja, Saharanpur and the stations located along these routes.

The announcement comes as Indian Railways continues to add and modify passenger services across key regional corridors. Earlier this month, the national transporter approved a new daily service between Kanpur Central and Anand Vihar, providing an overnight rail option between Kanpur and the Delhi region.

The Kanpur Central-Anand Vihar service will connect passengers travelling through important locations including Etawah, Aligarh and Ghaziabad. The route covers around 428 km in both directions, with the journey taking approximately eight hours and 10 minutes from Kanpur Central to Anand Vihar and eight hours on the return journey.

In another infrastructure-related decision, Indian Railways approved the construction of a four-lane Road Over Bridge at Alkapuri in Vadodara Division of Western Railway. The project has an estimated cost of Rs 166.5 crore and will be implemented on a cost-sharing basis with the state government.
