Haryana has signed letters of intent (LoIs) worth Rs 4,000 crore with Swedish companies during Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s visit to Sweden, with the proposed investments expected to boost trade, industrial development and employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel accompanied Saini on the visit, which focused on strengthening economic ties, attracting investment and expanding cooperation between Haryana and Sweden.
As part of the engagement, Gurugram and Stockholm signed a city-to-city collaboration agreement to promote cooperation in technological innovation, smart city solutions, sustainable urban development, knowledge exchange and investment promotion. The partnership is expected to establish a framework for long-term collaboration between the two cities.
The Haryana government also signed a major letter of intent involving Rs 3,000 crore. In addition, the government reached proposed agreements worth Rs 1,000 crore in the retail and warehousing sectors.
The proposed investments are expected to support the development of modern warehousing facilities, expansion of retail chains and fresh investment in logistics infrastructure. These initiatives could strengthen Haryana’s industrial and commercial ecosystem while improving supply-chain capabilities.
The visit also included an agreement to expand trade and deepen economic cooperation between Haryana and Sweden. Swedish companies have expressed their willingness to provide employment opportunities for skilled young people from Haryana, potentially creating avenues for specialised training, skill development and jobs aligned with international standards.
Saini said the visit marked an important step towards strengthening Haryana’s position as a destination for global investment. He said the state would seek to combine Sweden’s expertise in advanced technology, innovation and sustainable development with Haryana’s growing economy and young workforce.
The proposed collaborations are expected to contribute to employment generation, industrial expansion, export growth and urban modernisation across the state.
The Haryana government has said it will provide the necessary support and facilities to facilitate implementation of the proposed investments as soon as possible. The letters of intent and agreements represent proposed cooperation, and their eventual economic impact will depend on whether the projects move forward.
