Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has highlighted India's growing appeal as a global destination for talent, innovation and business services during a series of meetings.
During his US visit, Goyal held discussions with senior executives from major global companies and explored opportunities to expand their operations and investments in India.
Goyal met Greg Case, CEO of Aon, to discuss the financial services company's existing operations in India and prospects for further expansion.
He also held talks with Paul Grewal, Chief Legal and Global Affairs Officer at Cognition, focusing on the company's artificial intelligence technologies and opportunities to expand its presence in the Indian market.
Goyal said India's large engineering talent pool and rapidly developing startup ecosystem could provide a strong foundation for developing and deploying emerging technologies.
The minister also met representatives of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) from its Chicago, Michigan and Ohio chapters. Discussions focused on the expanding economic relationship between India and the US, including the opportunities arising from India's growth and increasing foreign direct investment.
Goyal said chartered accountants have an important role in facilitating cross-border business by helping companies deal with taxation, regulatory requirements and financial governance. He also highlighted their role in helping Indian businesses prepare for international investment.
During his visit, Goyal delivered the keynote address at a US-India Business Council (USIBC) roundtable in Chicago. Discussions there covered venture capital, commercialisation and corporate partnerships aimed at helping startups from both countries expand into international markets.
The meeting also explored ways to strengthen innovation ties between India and the US and create opportunities for emerging companies operating in high-growth sectors.
Goyal separately met Juan Ricardo Luciano, Chair of the Board and CEO of Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), to discuss potential investments and opportunities for the company to expand its presence in India.
The minister pointed to India's expanding food-processing industry, the modernisation of agricultural supply chains and the country's large consumer market as areas offering opportunities for long-term cooperation.
The meetings form part of India's broader effort to attract investment, deepen commercial partnerships and position the country as a destination for advanced technology, innovation and global business services.
