Four people were killed and two others seriously injured after a car reportedly lost control following a tyre burst and plunged into a deep roadside ditch on the Dausa-Manoharpur National Highway (NH-148) in Rajasthan.
According to officials, all six occupants were pilgrims returning to Agra after visiting Khatu Shyamji. The accident occurred around 6 a.m. near Raisar, within the jurisdiction of the Raisar police station.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and, with the help of local residents, rescued the occupants trapped inside the vehicle. The injured were taken by ambulance to a hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were shifted to the mortuary of a government hospital.
Raisar Station House Officer Rajpal Singh said the accident occurred after a tyre burst caused the driver to lose control of the car.
The deceased have been identified as Atul, Mukul, Rupesh and Shiva, all residents of Agra. The two injured occupants, Rahul and Arpit, sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
The accident also disrupted traffic on the highway, with long queues of vehicles forming on both sides of the road. Commuters faced inconvenience for nearly an hour before police personnel managed to restore traffic flow. The damaged car was subsequently pulled out of the ditch with the help of a crane.
